Letter From Recruitment Chair

Dear Potential New Members,

My name is Amisha Mathur and I am overjoyed to be the Membership Director for Phi Mu here at UMBC. I’m so glad you visited our page to learn more about us and that you are interested in going through sorority recruitment. Recruitment is a time to discover a place where you belong, a place to make memories, and a place to make lifelong friends. I found all of this and more in Phi Mu.

We have a saying in Phi Mu; it’s not about who you will become, it’s about who you have always been. Phi Mu allowed not only me, but every member in this chapter to become the best version of themselves, while acknowledging that we all have certain qualities that make us stand out as individuals. As different as we may be, Phi Mu unites us. Phi Mu was founded on the three main ideals of Love, Honor, and Truth. Today, we strive to achieve these ideals through our academics, philanthropic endeavors, and our everyday lives.

The support and encouragement that is felt from our sisterhood is so strong. The love among our sisters is unconditional. Once our time at UMBC comes to an end, the friendships that were created will last forever. Being a part of Phi Mu is bigger than just yourself. The college experience might be for four years, but Phi Mu is for a lifetime.

I hope you are considering going through the recruitment process. If so, we are so excited to meet you this coming February! Spring recruitment may be a long four days, but they will be worth it. The most important advice I can give is to trust the process and meet every chapter with an open mind & heart. Everyone has a special place that they will call home, so trust that you will soon find a sisterhood that is the right fit for you. No matter which chapter you end up in, I hope you find your home within the UMBC Greek community!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at amisham1@umbc.edu. We look forward to seeing you and wish you luck with your semester!

Sincerely,

Amisha Mathur
